Adverse immunostimulation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000301
Activation of some part of the immune system that is unwanted or unintended and is not directed at a particular antigen, for example after exposure to a drug or chemical. Outcomes include excessive release of cytokines, inflammation and tissue damage, and the condition contributes in some cases to hypersensitivity or autoimmune disease. Immunosuppression is the opposite, a reduction in immune function.
