Immunomodulation

The alteration of the immune system's function following exposure to a chemical or biological agent, known as an immunomodulator. This change can manifest as an enhancement, suppression, or redirection of the immune response. Immunomodulation is a broader concept than immunosuppression, which specifically describes a reduction in immune activity, or immunostimulation, which describes an enhancement.
