Immunopathology

The branch of pathology concerned with disorders arising within the immune system, including tissue damage caused by a dysregulated immune response. It covers hypersensitivity and allergy, autoimmune disease, and immunodeficiency. Hypersensitivity reactions are classified by the Gell and Coombs scheme into four types, from type I (immediate) to type IV (delayed-type).
