Photoallergy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008804
An acquired, delayed-type hypersensitivity reaction of the skin to a chemical substance that becomes allergenic only after exposure to light. This immunological response involves the formation of a photoallergen, which then triggers an immune reaction upon subsequent light exposure. It is a type IV hypersensitivity reaction.
