Photoassisted catalysis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008805
A catalytic reaction in which light is used only to generate the catalyst, for instance by photolysis of a precursor, after which the ground-state catalyst drives the reaction without further absorption of light. In photocatalysis the excited state of the catalyst takes part in each turnover, which marks the difference between the two.
