Homogeneous radiation catalysis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005372
A catalytic process where ionizing radiation, such as gamma rays or electron beams, initiates or accelerates a chemical reaction, and the catalyst is in the same phase as the reactants, typically in solution. The radiation interacts with the catalyst or solvent to produce reactive intermediates. This technique is used in fields like polymer chemistry and wastewater treatment.
