Homogeneous precipitation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005371
A precipitation technique where the precipitating agent is generated slowly and uniformly throughout the solution by a chemical reaction. This controlled generation leads to the formation of larger, purer, and more easily filterable precipitates compared to direct addition of a precipitant. An example is the hydrolysis of urea to produce ammonia, which then causes the precipitation of metal hydroxides.
