Discontinuous precipitation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003281
A solid-state phase transformation where a new phase precipitates from a supersaturated solid solution at a moving reaction front. This process involves the simultaneous nucleation and growth of two new phases, often forming a lamellar structure. It is characterized by a distinct interface separating the parent and transformed regions.
