Discontinuous indication

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003279

An analyser reading that relates to the sample concentration only during separated intervals of time, so the output is refreshed in steps and not followed without a break. A gas chromatograph, for instance, reports a new value once per analysis cycle, perhaps every few minutes. It contrasts with a continuous indication, which tracks the sample concentration permanently, though a time lag may exist.
