Discontinuous simultaneous techniques
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003282
The application of two coupled techniques to the same sample in which the second technique samples the first only at intervals, as when discrete portions of the volatiles evolved during thermal analysis are collected and passed to a gas chromatograph. It differs from continuous simultaneous techniques, such as thermogravimetry with mass spectrometry, in which the evolved gas is monitored without interruption.
