Thermal analysis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011928
A family of techniques that record a physical property of a sample while its temperature is changed according to a controlled program, usually heating at a constant rate. The resulting curves reveal melting and other phase transitions, decomposition and further temperature-dependent processes. Thermogravimetric analysis, which follows mass, and differential scanning calorimetry, which follows heat flow, are the most common examples.
