Critical oligomer degree of polymerisation for precipitation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002694

The minimum number of monomer units in an oligomer chain at which it becomes insoluble in the continuous phase and precipitates to form a new particle or adds to an existing one. This value is determined by the oligomer's solubility limit in the solvent. It is a key factor in determining particle nucleation mechanisms in dispersion polymerization.
