Critical oligomer degree of polymerisation for irreversible entry

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002693

The minimum number of monomer units in an oligomer chain that allows it to irreversibly enter a growing polymer particle from the aqueous phase in emulsion polymerization. Below this degree of polymerization, oligomers may re-enter the aqueous phase or remain soluble. This value is influenced by the oligomer's hydrophobicity and the surfactant concentration.
