Ab initio emulsion polymerisation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000030

A type of emulsion polymerization where the polymerization reaction starts in the aqueous phase, and polymer particles are formed spontaneously from dissolved monomer and initiator. This process does not require pre-existing seed particles or a separate nucleation step. The particles grow by absorbing monomer from the aqueous phase and by further polymerization within the particles.
