Seeded emulsion polymerisation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010659

A variant of emulsion polymerization where a small amount of pre-formed polymer latex (seed) is added to the reaction mixture before the main monomer feed. The seed particles act as sites for subsequent monomer diffusion and polymerization, leading to controlled particle growth and often narrower particle size distributions. This method is used to produce uniform polymer latexes with specific properties.
