Mini-emulsion polymerisation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007391
A polymerization process conducted in a mini-emulsion, where monomer droplets, stabilized by a surfactant and a hydrophobe, are polymerized to form polymer nanoparticles. The distinguishing feature is that polymerization occurs predominantly within the pre-existing monomer droplets, leading to a high number of polymer particles with controlled size. This technique is used to produce polymer latexes with narrow particle size distributions.
