Inverse micro-emulsion polymerisation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006051
A type of polymerization where a water-soluble monomer is polymerized within the aqueous phase of a water-in-oil microemulsion. The continuous phase is a non-polar organic liquid (oil), and the dispersed phase consists of nanometer-sized aqueous droplets containing the monomer, stabilized by a surfactant. This method is distinct from standard emulsion polymerization, where an oil-soluble monomer is polymerized in an oil-in-water emulsion.
