Inverse latex
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006050
A nonaqueous latex whose continuous phase is an organic liquid and whose dispersed particles are hydrophilic polymer swollen with water. It is the reverse of a conventional latex, which is dispersed in water, and it is made by inverse emulsion, microemulsion or miniemulsion polymerization of water-soluble monomers. Inverse latices of polyacrylamide are inverted into water for use as flocculants and thickeners.
