Hybrid latex
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005437
A latex whose particles combine two different kinds of material, either a high-molar-mass polymer together with an oligomer or alkyd resin that becomes chemically bonded to it, or organic polymer phases together with inorganic phases such as silica. The linking happens during latex synthesis or when the film forms. Acrylic-alkyd latices are a common example of the polymer-plus-resin type.
