Chemically bonded hybrid
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001974
A hybrid whose organic and inorganic parts are linked through covalent or partly covalent bonds, for example Si-C links between a silica-type network and organic groups, instead of only weak forces such as hydrogen bonding or van der Waals attraction. The links tie the parts together at the molecular scale. In the common two-class scheme these are class II hybrids, whereas class I hybrids rely on weak interactions.
