Chemically induced dynamic electron polarization

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001975

A phenomenon observed in electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy, where non-equilibrium populations of electron spin states are generated during a chemical reaction. This occurs when radical pairs are formed and subsequently react, leading to enhanced absorption or emission signals in the EPR spectrum. CIDEP provides insights into the mechanisms of radical reactions and the lifetimes of radical intermediates.
