Spin trapping

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011206

A technique used to detect and identify highly reactive free radicals by reacting them with a diamagnetic spin trap molecule to form a more stable, persistent radical adduct. This adduct, often a nitroxide, can then be characterized by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy. It is widely used in biological and chemical systems.
