Nitrones

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007967

A class of organic compounds containing the C=N(O)R functional group, where the nitrogen atom is oxidized and bears an oxygen atom. They are N-oxides of imines, formally derived by the oxidation of the nitrogen atom in an imine. Nitrones are 1,3-dipoles and participate in cycloaddition reactions.
