Spina bifida
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011207
A congenital birth defect characterized by the incomplete closing of the neural tube during early embryonic development, resulting in an unfused spinal column. This condition can lead to varying degrees of neurological impairment, depending on the extent and location of the defect. Folic acid supplementation during pregnancy can significantly reduce the risk of spina bifida.
