Neuropore
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007891
An opening at either the cranial (anterior) or caudal (posterior) end of the neural tube during embryonic development. These openings allow communication between the neural tube lumen and the amniotic cavity. Failure of the neuropores to close properly results in neural tube defects such as anencephaly or spina bifida.
