Cranium
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013003
The part of the skull that encloses and protects the brain, also known as the neurocranium. It is composed of several flat and irregular bones joined together by fibrous joints called sutures. In developmental toxicology, the proper formation and ossification of the cranium is a key endpoint for assessing potential skeletal abnormalities caused by toxicant exposure.
