Hydromicrocephaly

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005476

A developmental abnormality characterized by the concurrent presence of microcephaly, an abnormally small head, and hydrocephalus, an excessive accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid within the brain's ventricles. In this condition, the enlargement of the ventricles due to fluid buildup occurs within a cranium that is smaller than normal for the individual's age and sex. The combination of these two defects distinguishes it from either microcephaly or hydrocephalus alone.
