Microcephaly

A congenital condition characterized by an abnormally small head in relation to the infant's age, sex, and body size. This structural defect arises from impaired brain development during pregnancy or infancy, leading to a smaller brain volume. Clinically, microcephaly is diagnosed when the occipitofrontal head circumference measures more than two standard deviations below the mean for the appropriate reference group.
