Head-tail isomerism
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005135
A type of structural isomerism in polymers that arises from the different ways monomer units can link together, specifically referring to the orientation of asymmetric monomer units. In a head-tail arrangement, the 'head' of one monomer connects to the 'tail' of the next. Deviations from this regular pattern lead to head-to-head or tail-to-tail linkages, affecting polymer properties.
