Constitutional isomerism
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002471
A form of isomerism where compounds have the same molecular formula but differ in the connectivity or sequence of their atoms. This difference in atomic arrangement leads to distinct structural formulas and chemical properties. For example, n-butane and isobutane are constitutional isomers, both having the molecular formula C4H10 but with different carbon skeletons.
