Constitutional homosequence
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002470
A constitutional sequence within a macromolecule that is composed of only a single species of constitutional unit. For example, in a block copolymer of styrene and methyl methacrylate, a long segment containing only styrene units would be a constitutional homosequence. The length and distribution of these homosequences influence the macroscopic properties of the polymer, such as its phase behavior and mechanical strength.
