Meningoencephalocele

A congenital defect where a portion of the brain and its surrounding meninges protrude through an opening in the skull, forming a sac-like protrusion. This condition is a type of neural tube defect, often occurring in the occipital region of the head. The severity of neurological impairment depends on the amount of brain tissue involved.
