Myelomeningocele

A severe form of spina bifida, a birth defect where the spinal canal and backbone do not close completely during fetal development. This condition involves the protrusion of the spinal cord and its meninges through an opening in the vertebral column. It often results in neurological deficits below the level of the defect.
