Spinal column

The vertebral column, a flexible bony structure extending from the base of the skull to the pelvis, composed of individual vertebrae separated by intervertebral discs. It encloses and protects the spinal cord, supports the body's weight, and provides attachment points for muscles. The human spinal column typically consists of 33 vertebrae.
