Neural arch

The posterior part of a vertebra that encloses the spinal cord, forming a protective bony ring. It consists of two pedicles and two laminae, which meet posteriorly to form the spinous process. This structure safeguards the delicate nervous tissue of the spinal cord from mechanical injury.
