Hyoid arch

The second of the embryonic pharyngeal arches, also known as branchial arches, which appears in the developing vertebrate embryo. It is located caudal to the mandibular arch and contributes to the formation of several structures in the head and neck. In humans, derivatives of the hyoid arch include the hyoid bone's lesser horn, the stapes bone of the middle ear, and the facial nerve (cranial nerve VII).
