Branchial arch
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001479
One of a series of paired, segmented structures that develop in the pharyngeal region of vertebrate embryos. These arches are composed of mesenchymal tissue derived from neural crest cells and mesoderm, and each contains a cartilaginous or bony element, a muscle component, a cranial nerve, and an artery. They contribute to the formation of the face, jaw, and neck structures.
