Encephalocele

A congenital neural tube defect characterized by a sac-like protrusion of the brain and its surrounding membranes through an opening in the skull. This malformation results from incomplete closure of the neural tube during embryonic development. The severity of neurological deficits depends on the size and location of the protrusion.
