Encephalopathy

Any diffuse disease of the brain that alters its structure or function. Manifestations include a spectrum of neurological and psychiatric symptoms, such as altered mental state, memory loss, personality changes, and seizures. The condition can arise from metabolic disturbances, infection, oxygen deprivation, or exposure to certain chemicals and toxins, which is a key focus in neurotoxicology.
