Convulsion

A sudden, violent, and involuntary contraction of a group of muscles, which may be localized or affect the entire body. It is a clinical sign resulting from abnormal, excessive electrical activity in the brain. Convulsions are a primary feature of generalized tonic-clonic seizures but can also be caused by fever, metabolic disturbances, or exposure to certain neurotoxic chemicals.
