Exencephaly
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004203
A severe congenital malformation characterized by the brain being located outside the skull, typically covered only by a membrane. This condition results from a failure of the neural tube to close properly during embryonic development. It is a precursor to anencephaly, where the exposed brain tissue subsequently degenerates.
