Communicating hydrocephalus
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002283
A type of hydrocephalus where the flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) within the ventricular system is unobstructed, but its absorption into the bloodstream is impaired. This leads to an accumulation of CSF in the subarachnoid space and ventricles, causing increased intracranial pressure. It is termed 'communicating' because the CSF can still flow between the ventricles and the subarachnoid space.
