Blood-cerebrospinal fluid barrier

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001391

A physiological barrier formed by the choroid plexus epithelial cells that regulates the passage of substances from the blood into the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). This barrier is characterized by tight junctions between the epithelial cells, which limit paracellular diffusion. It maintains the specific chemical composition of the CSF.
