Lumbar puncture

A medical procedure involving the insertion of a needle into the subarachnoid space of the spinal canal, typically between the third and fourth or fourth and fifth lumbar vertebrae. This allows for the collection of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) for diagnostic analysis or the administration of medications. CSF analysis can detect infections, inflammation, or other neurological conditions.
