Craniosynostosis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002661
A congenital condition characterized by the premature fusion of one or more of the fibrous cranial sutures between the bones of an infant's skull. This early closure restricts the normal growth of the skull, leading to an abnormal head shape and potentially increased intracranial pressure. The specific shape of the skull depends on which sutures fuse prematurely; for example, sagittal synostosis is the most common form.
