Endochondral ossification
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003890
The process by which cartilage is replaced by bone, forming most of the bones in the vertebrate skeleton. This method of bone formation involves a cartilage model that is gradually resorbed and replaced by osseous tissue. Long bones, such as the femur, develop through endochondral ossification.
