Chondrification

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002022

The process of cartilage formation, where mesenchymal cells differentiate into chondrocytes and produce the extracellular matrix of cartilage. This developmental process is a key step in the formation of the skeletal system in vertebrates, particularly during embryonic development. It precedes endochondral ossification, where cartilage is replaced by bone.
