Cholinomimetic
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002021
Describing a substance that mimics the action of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter, at cholinergic receptors in the nervous system. These agents can either directly activate the receptors or indirectly increase acetylcholine levels by inhibiting its breakdown. Cholinomimetics are often used in medicine to treat conditions such as glaucoma or Alzheimer's disease.
