Osteogenesis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008360
The biological process of bone formation, also known as ossification. This complex process involves the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells into osteoblasts, which then secrete the organic bone matrix (osteoid) and facilitate its subsequent mineralization. There are two main types of bone formation: intramembranous ossification, which forms flat bones, and endochondral ossification, which forms long bones.
