Osteomalacia

A condition characterized by the softening of bones due to defective mineralization of the bone matrix, often caused by vitamin D deficiency or impaired phosphate metabolism. This leads to bone pain, muscle weakness, and increased risk of fractures. In children, the equivalent condition is rickets.
